Grr so you think you know someone...

So a few nights ago I was at the gymm, the job where I meet all type of people and for the most part i love working nights best because the people there are friendlier then the 6 am people...

Anyway... so now that the mood is set...

So I have worked at the gym for 2 years and I would say in the course of that time I have talked to this one particular woman about 3 times a week on average. Typically we talk about just about anything, whats new with her and her family, and mine as well.

So this night in particular the 1st thing she says to me is "so how is your friend who is dating that black guy..." then for about 20 min she goes on to express her view that basically white people shouldnt date or get together with people of other races.

Now I have to admit this really shocked me, I never in a million years would have guessed her to say anything like that... Then when I mentioneda cute little black boy in my class and his mom and how nice his family is she says " oh well what color is his mom?" Hello what difference does it make????

Then when we are talking more it comes up that once upon a time I had said that I would love to adopt a lil mulatto boy or a lil black boy, because I think they are adorable... Needless to say at this point I think she got the idea that just because 2 people happen to share a trait doesnt mean they share beliefs about those who do not share in their traits... and finally she dropped the conversation.

But seriously, I was so shocked that as much as I wanted to be like um what the helL, I couldnt really say anything other than try to move the conversation onward in hopes that she would just shut up so I could walk away or that the phone would ring... something, anything to give me an out.
